Typography.

This collection showcases my comic lettering work and custom type design created while working for VLM. At the center is VLM Comic One, a clean, expressive font developed for dialogue, captions, and narration—designed to preserve the warmth of hand lettering with the precision of digital layout.

To amplify the impact of sound and action, I also created a suite of special effects fonts—Krackle, Pieces, Quake, and Smash—each crafted to visually embody the tone and energy of the scene. These typographic systems helped shape how readers engaged with the story on a visual and emotional level.

This work taught me to think strategically about visual rhythm, audience focus, and communication intent. The same principles now inform my work in science communication and education design—where typography is more than aesthetics; it’s a tool to guide attention, clarify meaning, and create inclusive experiences. Whether crafting headlines for infographics or instructional materials for educators, I continue to apply these storytelling instincts to help information connect and resonate.

Deathlok and Warlock are two examples of comics that feature my custom-designed font, VLM Comic One — explore the comics below to see how the lettering brings each page to life.
